Irene and Bob Wendoloski have put together what looks like a fantastic trip on a new-to-Canoe-and-Brew stretch of the river! We’ll pass dramatic Campbell’s ledge, Bob reports, as well as Coxton Rail Yards, where archeologists found artifacts from 8020 B.C. (No, that’s not a typo. There really were people living here back then!) There’s also a good chance we’ll see bald eagles and hawks all along this stretch.
We’ll float six easy miles, then head to Susquehanna Brewing Co. for some new brews , acoustic rock and blues tunes by Paul Martin and some fine food from Southwest Savory Grill‘s food truck. The owner, Don Jones, is our kind of people – the Wendoloskis know him through biking. They recommend pre-ordering your meal, lest we overwhelm them when we show up. Their number is 570-613-8226.
Special note: You’ll need a launch permit from DCNR to legally launch from our starting point. It’s up to you whether you want to chance the fine.
