June 3rd, 2017: Island Adventure with Overnight Option

Island Adventure:  Last year’s trip to Susquehanna Outdoor Adventures Island was so popular, we’re expanding it!   This year, we’ll be paddling to the island to join the new public Gathering on the River festival. There will be music by the great Rob Brown and George Chamuris, food barbecued for us on the island, and of course shipping in growlers full of your choice of beer from Turkey Hill Brewing Co.

But here’s the best part – owner Chris Ehmer is opening up his island to us overnight, free of charge!  Whoever gets to the tree houses first can stay in them!  The rest of us can stay in our own tents.  We have to provide our own camping gear, but if we drop it off at Susquehanna Adventures before we start our paddle, he’ll ferry it to the island so it’ll be waiting for us, along with our beer.

Special Note:  Everyone has to meet at Susquehanna Outdoor Adventures to place beer orders on this trip, plus to fill out or turn in the liability release form. Don’t want beer and don’t need a shuttle?  Download the liability release form here and email it to Susan Schwartz at nomad6@ptd.net.  Chris needs it to keep his insurance company happy, and considering all he’s doing to keep us happy, it’s the least we can do!

Date:  Saturday, June 3rd, rain or shine!

Brewery:  Turkey Hill Brewing Co.

Outfitter:  Susquehanna Outdoor Adventures

The price: $15 per head for the shuttle, including your boat. Boat rentals are $25 per head – that’s $25 for a single kayak, $50 for a double, and do not include shuttle.  Kids riding in a canoe with their parents are free. Chris is preparing pulled pork, grilled burgers and hot dogs on the island for us, plus a couple salads. It’s $10 per person for the meal.  You’re also welcome to bring your own food instead, but we don’t recommend it – you’ll be jealous when you smell that pork!

No need to contact the outfitter individually this time – just register through this website with how many of your group will use the shuttles and how many boats you’ll need;  we’ll pass word on to Chris Ehmer, owner of Susquehanna Outdoor Adventures.  But be sure to let us know if you’re going to cancel by the night before by calling 570-441-2774 – otherwise your friendly organizers will be stuck paying a no-show fee!
